Databases Expert

Leads the design, operation and evolution of INTERPOL database, data-lake and ETL infrastructure, establishing technical standards, governance controls, performance practices and resilient operations for criminal, non-criminal and infrastructure data.

Department: Application Support and Data Management

• Manage the technical lifecycle of organisational databases, data lakes and data-manipulation infrastructure
• Define database designs, mappings, standards and operating procedures that support service levels
• Establish and enforce data-governance rules for lifecycle, security and quality
• Organise data-administration audits and enforce operational controls
• Troubleshoot database issues through root-cause and alarm analysis
• Define performance, processing and monitoring standards for databases and data platforms
• Develop technology, obsolescence and security roadmaps for data environments
• Train the data team in disaster-recovery management and maintain operating procedures

• Internationally recognised database certification
• ITIL certification
• At least 7 years of IT experience, including at least 5 years in database design and operations across multiple data centres and mission-critical environments
• Experience designing and implementing a lakehouse or data mart
• Working knowledge of English
• Expert knowledge of at least two of Oracle Database, Microsoft SQL Server, MariaDB, MySQL or PostgreSQL

• Fixed-term contract for 36 months
