Consultant on the Discussion Paper, Toward an Arab Regional Perspective on Sustainable Development Beyond 2030

Produces a regional discussion paper on sustainable development beyond 2030 by reviewing evidence, drafting an Arab perspective and integrating conclusions from an ESCWA consultation with voluntary national review focal points, creating a foundation for dialogue ahead of the 2027 SDG Summit.

Department: 2030 Agenda and SDG Coordination Cluster

• Review literature on successes and challenges of the 2030 Agenda and SDG framework
• Prepare an initial discussion-paper draft for ESCWA review and consultation
• Participate in the regional consultation with voluntary national review focal points
• Facilitate consultation discussions and deliver interventions as requested
• Synthesize consultation outcomes into the final approved paper
• Illustrate findings with concrete examples from the Arab region and globally

• Master’s degree in public policy, economics, social development or a related field
• At least 15 years of progressive public-policy formulation, implementation, analysis and research experience in the Arab region
• Fluency in English and Arabic

• Consultancy duration is four months
• Final discussion paper may be submitted in English or Arabic and must be 30–35 pages
