Budget Analyst

Manages budget planning, execution and forecasting for NATO’s maritime research centre in La Spezia. The analyst reviews funding inputs, monitors expenditure and commitments, coordinates year-end accruals, builds forecasts and data views, supports project costing and advises management and auditors on financial performance.

Department: Centre for Maritime Research and Experimentation

• Develop budgets, charge-out rates and multi-year financial plans
• Review budget submissions for completeness and compliance
• Analyse expenditure trends and report budget execution
• Monitor commitments and coordinate adjustments with fund managers
• Coordinate year-end accruals, carry-forwards and lapses
• Develop statistical analyses and financial forecasts
• Create management views and visualisations of budget data
• Support project cost estimates and proposals
• Advise finance leadership and support audit reviews

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline with three years of related experience, or six years of compensating experience
• Minimum three years of experience in accounting, budgeting, financial management or auditing
• Knowledge of financial regulations for an international or public-sector organisation
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and working knowledge of financial or ERP systems
• Nationality of a NATO member country

• Three-year definite-duration contract, renewable subject to business needs and performance
• Temporary duty travel may be required
• Monthly salary is EUR 5,879.80 at the published 2026 rate
