Overview

Supports OCHA policy work and Member State engagement on humanitarian norms and intergovernmental processes. The role researches positions, drafts reports and policy documents, supports General Assembly and ECOSOC negotiations, organises key events and develops data-led insights.

Responsibilities

  • Research and analyse Member State positions on humanitarian issues
  • Draft studies, policy guidance, background papers and Secretary-General reports
  • Maintain reference resources and respond to policy information requests
  • Organise the ECOSOC Humanitarian Affairs Segment and relief-to-development meeting
  • Support intergovernmental negotiations on humanitarian resolutions
  • Track political, policy and gender developments affecting humanitarian action
  • Analyse data and present trends through charts, tables and reports

Requirements

  • Advanced university degree in political science, social science, international studies, public administration, economics, engineering, earth sciences or a related field, or a first-level degree with two additional years of qualifying experience
  • At least two years of progressively responsible experience in humanitarian affairs, emergency preparedness, crisis or emergency relief management, rehabilitation, development or a related area, or successful completion of YPP, NCRE or G-to-P examination routes
  • Experience supporting intergovernmental negotiations on humanitarian resolutions
  • English at United Nations Level III
