Overview

Manages the Mission Air Operations Center and coordinates complex passenger, cargo, medical, military and emergency flights. The role allocates aircraft, controls operational risk, maintains aviation systems and standards, and advises mission leaders on safe, efficient air support.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and supervise the Mission Air Operations Center
  • Approve air mission requests and allocate suitable aircraft for safe and efficient support
  • Coordinate routine, special, medical evacuation and military operational flights
  • Conduct aviation risk management and maintain operational records in AIMS
  • Coordinate clearances, ground handling and support with UN and external aviation partners
  • Develop aviation budgets, aircraft requirements and responses to technical evaluations
  • Analyse safety reports and implement corrective and preventive measures
  • Supervise staff assignments, performance and aviation training

Requirements

  • Advanced university degree in aviation, air transport, aviation safety, aerospace engineering or equivalent military education, or a first degree with two additional years of experience
  • Commercial Pilot, Flight Operations Officer, Flight Dispatcher, Air Traffic Controller or equivalent military certification
  • Five years of progressively responsible experience in air transport operations or aviation safety
  • Three years of managerial experience coordinating complex international air operations
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
