Responsibilities

  • Support IOM engagement with the UN peace and security pillar and humanitarian architecture
  • Act as focal point on counterterrorism, prevention of violent extremism, youth peace and security, and women peace and security
  • Draft reports, guidance, programme and policy documents, briefing materials and talking points
  • Coordinate technical inputs to UN counter-terrorism coordination mechanisms and related working groups
  • Coordinate with UN counterterrorism entities on prevention of violent extremism and border security governance
  • Support IOM participation in task force meetings and responses to UN Secretariat and permanent mission requests
  • Organise visits and meetings for IOM chiefs of mission and senior representatives in New York
  • Monitor peace and security policy processes and maintain resource mobilisation and knowledge management records

Requirements

  • Vacancy is open only to internal and internal-equivalent candidates through IOM's competitive mobility exercise
  • Master's degree in political science, international relations or a related field with five years of relevant professional experience, or bachelor's degree with seven years
  • Experience liaising with governmental representatives, diplomatic authorities, civil society organisations and UN entities
  • Experience working in a multilateral system, preferably a UN context, and familiarity with the UN system and its main organs
  • Experience in migration, development, humanitarian crises, and peace and security-related programming and policy issues
  • Experience organising webinars or events with UN partners
  • Experience preparing presentations and external outreach materials
  • Fluency in English is required
