Overview
Protects the health and dignity of people in detention across Honduras from Tegucigalpa. The physician visits prisons, assesses health needs, supports tuberculosis and other health projects, strengthens medical ethics and mistreatment prevention, trains staff, coordinates authorities and manages reports and budgets.

Responsibilities
- Visit detention facilities and assess health conditions
- Prioritise health needs of detained people and vulnerable groups
- Monitor detention conditions and prepare health reports
- Support prevention of mistreatment and medical ethics practices
- Implement prison-health and tuberculosis control projects
- Coordinate with health and penitentiary authorities
- Train medical and non-medical prison staff
- Maintain institutional monitoring and reporting records
- Manage the assigned programme budget
Requirements
- Medical degree
- Three to five years of relevant professional experience
- Knowledge of public health, medical ethics and prison-health issues
- English at intermediate-advanced B2 level
- Foreign candidates must hold Honduran work and residence authorization
