Programme Specialist (Mental Health and Psychosocial Support)

Strengthens mental health and psychosocial support systems for children and adolescents across the Pacific, leading MHPSS programme coordination, capacity building and policy engagement from the Child Protection section in Suva.

Department: Child Protection Section

• Lead oversight and coordination of the UNICEF Pacific MHPSS programme
• Provide technical assistance and capacity building to programme staff and partners
• Support rollout of peer-support and school-based MHPSS packages
• Build capacity of frontline service providers through training and coaching
• Contribute to legislative and policy reform for mental health frameworks
• Coordinate awareness-raising campaigns to reduce stigma and promote help-seeking
• Support integration of MHPSS into pre-service teacher training curricula
• Coordinate research and assessments on child and adolescent mental health with partners

• Master's degree (Advanced University Degree) in psychology, public health, social sciences, child development or a related field
• Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience including mental health and psychosocial support
• Practitioner experience in child and adolescent mental health required
• Experience delivering capacity building in low-resource or remote environments required
• Fluency in English required

• Temporary Appointment for 364 days, based in Suva
