The Local Manager will support field implementation of the Inclusive and Sustainable Rio project by mobilising communities, coordinating local teams and promoting urban and climate resilience actions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support field teams during community activities
  • Serve as focal point between the project and community stakeholders
  • Promote community awareness of disaster prevention and preparedness actions
  • Plan field activities aligned with community needs
  • Assess field execution and propose improvements to the supervisor
  • Identify conflicts, training needs and territorial adjustments during operations
  • Support community training activities and resilience-building actions
  • Produce monthly reports on personal and field activities

Requirements

  • High school diploma or additional two years of relevant experience beyond the requirement
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in community mobilisation on urban development or disaster risk management in Brazil
  • Fluency in Portuguese is required

  • Expected duration: six months
  • Monthly allowance under the SB-1/4 UNDP Brazil salary scale
  • Appointment is local; only Brazilian nationals or external candidates with a permanent visa in Brazil may apply
  • Travel within Brazil may be required and will be coordinated and financed by UN-Habitat
  • Required application materials include a cover memo, education background, professional experience and other relevant experience
  • BSAFE security training is required during the first month of employment
