Supports UNODC's Generating the Knowledge Base on Migrant Smuggling (GEMS) initiative, contributing qualitative and quantitative research, data collection and analysis, and coordination of expert meetings to strengthen the evidence base for counter-smuggling policy and practice.

Responsibilities

  • Support desk-based literature review on smuggling of migrants
  • Collect and analyse information online to inform research outputs
  • Support development of research methodologies and tools, including key informant interview questionnaires
  • Contribute to drafting and reviewing research documents in multiple UN official languages
  • Support preparation of concept notes, agendas and participant lists for GEMS expert group and steering committee meetings

Requirements

  • Advanced university degree in Social Sciences, Migration Studies, Political Science, Security Studies or a related field
  • First-level university degree with two additional years of qualifying experience accepted in lieu of advanced degree
  • Minimum two years of relevant progressively responsible professional experience in research and/or communication
  • Fluency in English
