Overview

Leads day-to-day financial services for UNDP Honduras, safeguarding budget, accounting, cash, treasury and cost-recovery processes while supervising support staff, strengthening internal controls and providing accurate analysis and reporting for country-office management and projects.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain compliant financial recording and reporting and follow up audit recommendations
  • Map finance processes, strengthen internal controls and update standard operating procedures
  • Prepare financial analysis, budgets and cost-saving proposals for country-office management
  • Administer project budgets, spending limits, cost-recovery billing and partner contributions
  • Control supporting documents, invoices, ledger accounts, receivables and project closure actions
  • Manage cash positions, bank reconciliations, deposits, transfers and cash-flow forecasts
  • Resolve financial data anomalies and take corrective action on invoice and transaction exceptions
  • Train operations and programme staff and supervise Finance Unit support personnel

Requirements

  • Fully qualified accountant from an internationally accredited institute, completion of the UNDP Finance Training and Certification Programme, or successful completion of the required UNDP finance testing and certification route
  • At least seven years of finance and accounting experience with secondary education, or four years with a bachelor’s degree
  • Advanced spreadsheet skills and experience with ERP financials, office software and database packages
  • Knowledge of IPSAS or IFRS
  • Fluency in Spanish and working knowledge of English
