Disaster Risk Reduction Research and Knowledge Management Consultant

Produces research, analysis and knowledge products for disaster risk reduction and resilience work in the Arab region. The consultancy supports Sendai Framework implementation through evidence synthesis, technical inputs and regional knowledge management.

Department: Regional Office for Arab States

• Conduct desk reviews and literature research on disaster risk reduction and related thematic areas
• Compile, review and synthesise data, reports, policies and technical documentation
• Support analysis of Sendai Framework implementation and links with SDGs and climate agendas
• Prepare background papers, briefing notes, concept notes, analytical summaries and research inputs
• Support analytical products and knowledge outputs for regional initiatives
• Contribute technical inputs on resilience, climate action and sustainable development in the Arab region

• Advanced degree in disaster risk reduction, public policy, international development, economics, environmental studies, climate change, geography or a related field, or first-level degree with two additional years of qualifying experience
• At least 5 years of research and analytical experience in disaster risk reduction, resilience, climate change, sustainable development or related areas
• Experience in national policy development related to disaster risk reduction, climate change adaptation or sustainable development
• Fluency in spoken and written Arabic and English is required
