Overview

The volunteers will support IOM Uganda Ebola response activities in border districts by conducting community risk communication, disseminating prevention messages and strengthening links between communities and public-health response teams.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct household visits, community dialogues and outreach at markets and transit points
  • Share Ebola prevention, safe care-seeking and anti-stigma messages
  • Disseminate standard information, education and communication materials
  • Adapt messages to local languages and community contexts
  • Support community-based disease surveillance and timely reporting
  • Strengthen referral links between communities and rapid response teams

Requirements

  • Specialisation in social sciences, medicine, health sciences, community health, public health or a related field
  • At least one year of national-level professional experience in emergency response and coordination or humanitarian health assistance
  • Excellent oral, written, drafting, formulation and reporting skills
  • Computer literacy including Microsoft Office, email and internet
