Community-Based Surveillance and Village Health Team Coordinator

Strengthens community-based disease surveillance and early-warning capacity by linking communities with health authorities, developing tools and training health workers for outbreak preparedness and response.

• Design and scale community-based and event-based surveillance systems
• Strengthen reporting links between communities, health facilities and municipal surveillance structures
• Coordinate community health worker deployment, supervision and performance monitoring
• Develop surveillance tools, dashboards, alert protocols and referral mechanisms
• Deliver training on surveillance, outbreak investigation and emergency preparedness
• Coordinate Pandemic Fund implementation with government, UN and community partners
• Monitor work plans, indicators and targets and prepare technical and donor reports
• Support simulation exercises and reviews of national public-health emergency capacity

• Degree in public health, epidemiology, community health, health sciences, medicine, nursing, environmental health, health information systems or a related field
• At least three years of progressively responsible experience in public health, disease surveillance, outbreak response, community health, health systems strengthening or emergency preparedness
• Experience supporting community-based, event-based or integrated disease surveillance systems
• Experience working with government health institutions
• Experience planning and delivering training for health workers and community health volunteers
• English is required
• Portuguese is required

• International UN Volunteer assignment
• Assignment duration is 181 days
• Angola is classified as a B duty station
• Travel outside Luanda may be required
• The volunteer arranges their own housing and transport to and from work
