Responsibilities

  • Lead IOM emergency preparedness and humanitarian response in line with international standards and coordination requirements
  • Harmonise preparedness and response standards, policies and systems across relevant IOM divisions
  • Lead horizon scanning, early warning and readiness planning for preparedness and anticipatory action
  • Manage preparedness learning, disaster risk reduction, MICIC approaches and local partner capacity development
  • Coordinate surge deployments, standby partnerships and deployment roster management before, during and after crises
  • Manage humanitarian emergency responses, the Global Rapid Response Mechanism and the Migration Emergency Response Fund
  • Provide strategic guidance on WASH, shelter, settlements, crisis coordination and CCCM programming
  • Represent IOM in humanitarian advocacy and IASC forums and guide appeals, donor reporting and resource mobilisation

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Political Science, Social Science, International Studies, Public Administration, Economics, Engineering, Earth Sciences or a related field with ten years of relevant professional experience, or university degree in one of those fields with twelve years of relevant professional experience
  • At least ten years of senior management and leadership experience in the humanitarian and development field with international organisations, including substantial experience in developing countries
  • Experience leading emergency preparedness programmes and climate actions
  • Experience managing a team and applying leadership skills
  • Fluency in English
