AI Engineering Interns - Data Engineering, Full-Stack Development, Quality and Evaluation

Contributes to WHO/Europe’s Pera AI workspace by supporting agentic AI workflows, data engineering, full-stack development, evaluation and responsible AI product delivery.

Department: EU/BOS Division of Business Operations

• Assist in designing and enhancing AI agents and agentic workflows in Pera
• Support evaluation methods for AI agents and responses
• Develop user-friendly web interfaces using modern front-end technologies
• Support back-end services, APIs, integrations and data-processing components
• Implement generative AI capabilities including retrieval-augmented generation and tool calling
• Prepare and evaluate trusted knowledge sources used by AI applications
• Test AI-enabled workflows and document software features
• Participate in product discovery, feedback sessions, code reviews and technical discussions

• Completion of the equivalent of three years of full-time university studies in software engineering, computer science, artificial intelligence, information systems, data science or a related field before starting
• Current enrolment in a course of study leading to a formal qualification, or graduation within eighteen months before applying
• Programming experience in at least one modern programming language, preferably TypeScript, JavaScript or Python
• Familiarity with modern web development concepts and frameworks, preferably React
• Basic understanding of software development practices including Git, APIs, testing and documentation
• Hands-on experience building with large language model APIs through at least one demonstrable project involving tool calling, retrieval-augmented generation or AI agents
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• GitHub profile, technical portfolio or public repository showing relevant projects

• Internship duration: six months
• Full-time in-person internship; remote or hybrid working arrangements are not envisaged
