Staff Officer (2030 Digitalisation - Artificial Intelligence Engineer)

Develops and adapts artificial-intelligence and large-language-model systems for JWC digital transformation, supporting NATO exercises, hybrid search, data initiatives and reliable AI outputs.

Department: CIS Services Branch

• Advise on development, refinement and delivery of LLM and AI tools for JWC digital transformation
• Identify emerging technologies and machine-learning opportunities for process improvement
• Deploy, optimise and manage LLM-powered applications in a production environment
• Fine-tune pre-trained LLMs for future JWC applications
• Develop multimodal solutions to address hybrid search needs
• Develop a roadmap for data initiatives and NATO digital transformation integration
• Apply validation methods to verify accuracy and reliability of large data-centric programmes
• Recommend and coordinate projects to embed AI-based solutions into JWC business processes

• University degree in information technology, economics, statistics, operations research or a related discipline with three years of function-related experience is required, or higher secondary education with advanced vocational training and four years post-related experience
• Minimum three years of functional experience developing, managing and adapting artificial intelligence systems including large language models is required
• Minimum two years of functional experience with Python, SQL and Spark or equivalent is required
• Microsoft Azure Data Scientist certification or equivalent is required
• Upper-intermediate or advanced English is required

• Contract duration: three-year definite-duration project-linked NATO International Civilian post
• Qualified candidates with current or recent NATO or national security clearance receive priority consideration
• Travel on temporary duty and irregular working hours may be required, especially during exercises or events
