Social & Behavior Change Officer

Designs and manages evidence-based social and behaviour change strategies for UNICEF’s Mozambique programme, using research, community participation and cross-sector partnerships to influence practices, strengthen local capacity and improve results for children in development and emergency settings.

Department: Nampula Zone Office

• Generate and use research, data and evidence to design and monitor social and behaviour change programmes
• Design and implement inclusive social and behaviour change activities in development and humanitarian settings
• Build community engagement and participation mechanisms around evidence-based interventions
• Advocate for social and behaviour change approaches and mobilise programme resources
• Coordinate stakeholders, sectors and teams and build implementation partnerships
• Strengthen and scale social and behaviour change practice through staff and partner capacity building

• First-level university degree in social and behavioural science, sociology, anthropology, communication studies, communication for development, psychology or a related field
• Two years of relevant experience in social development planning, communication for development, social and behaviour change, public advocacy or a related field
• Fluency in English
• Mozambican nationality

• Temporary appointment for 11 months
• Medical clearance is required
• UNICEF does not facilitate visas or work authorisation for National Officer appointments
