Senior Officer, Mini-Grids and Distributed Energy Systems

The retainer consultant will provide technical and analytical leadership for the Mini-Grids Partnership Secretariat, advancing research, stakeholder activation, investment planning, donor reporting and knowledge products for mini-grid scale-up in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Department: Sustainable Energy for All Secretariat

• Lead development of the State of the Global Mini-Grids Market report
• Prepare executive summaries, slide decks and decision-ready recommendations
• Develop and disseminate communications assets for the Mini-Grids Partnership
• Organise in-person and virtual convenings, side events and Steering Committee calls
• Conduct qualitative and quantitative research on distributed renewable energy and energy access
• Design indicators and track monitoring, evaluation and learning activities
• Prepare donor reports, support proposals and assist resource mobilisation and grant management
• Represent SEforALL at knowledge-sharing and thematic events with donors, investors and partners

• Advanced university degree in energy, engineering, law, political sciences, economics, finance, business administration or a related field, or a bachelor's degree with two additional years of relevant experience
• At least two years of experience in the Sub-Saharan African energy sector with a strong network of energy stakeholders
• Specific experience in the mini-grid sector as a financier, private sector developer, government agency or donor support programme
• Fluency in English is required

• Retainer contract for 6 months
• Home-based assignment
