Overview

Leads day-to-day delivery of infrastructure projects for UNOPS in Central Africa, managing project plans, quality, risks, resources, reporting, stakeholders and teams to deliver agreed outputs for partners and beneficiaries.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, complete and update project implementation plans and milestones within Project Board tolerances
  • Manage infrastructure outputs, resources, work packages, quality requirements and corrective actions
  • Monitor project progress, variances, risks, results indicators and financial reporting
  • Coordinate stakeholders, project board members, clients, suppliers and beneficiaries for delivery and handover
  • Ensure compliance with UNOPS policies, financial rules, local laws, technical standards and audit requirements
  • Coordinate quality reviews of project documents, supplier interfaces and management outputs
  • Create a learning environment, share lessons and contribute to policy and systems improvement
  • Organise, guide and manage project teams, performance reviews, recruitment and personnel safety

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline with seven years of relevant experience, or master's degree in a relevant engineering discipline with five years of relevant experience
  • Relevant experience implementing and managing infrastructure projects in sectors such as roads, dams, bridges, irrigation, health, windmills, solar power or ports
  • Experience defining technical and design requirements
  • Knowledge of infrastructure quality assurance methodologies and tools
  • Experience managing infrastructure project risks in a multi-stakeholder context
  • Fluency in English and French
