Responsibilities

  • Lead greenhouse-gas appraisals for projects from formulation through completion
  • Review project designs to maximize carbon benefits from GEF investments
  • Improve analytical tools for mitigation planning and climate investment prioritization
  • Monitor quality assurance for carbon-accounting exercises
  • Support UNFCCC engagement, climate reporting and mitigation capacity development

Requirements

  • Advanced university degree in natural resources, environmental sciences, climate change, agriculture or a related field
  • Five years of relevant experience in climate change mitigation, greenhouse-gas accounting or mitigation project design and implementation
  • Working knowledge of English at FAO level C
  • Intermediate knowledge of another official FAO language at level B
