Internship – Emerging Zoonosis and High Impact Epidemics

WHO offers a Geneva internship supporting arbovirus epidemiology and analytics. The intern will collate surveillance, climate, demographic and entomological data, contribute to transmission models and early-warning indicators, develop outbreak forecasts, compare statistical models, and communicate analytical findings.

• Support technical projects and meetings on emerging zoonoses and arboviruses
• Collate surveillance, climate, demographic, entomological and environmental data
• Help develop and calibrate arbovirus transmission models
• Assess alarm indicators for early outbreak detection
• Develop short- and medium-term case and severity forecasts
• Compare model performance with seasonal statistical approaches

• Three years of full-time university study in public health, medicine, epidemiology, biostatistics or a related field
• Current enrolment leading to a formal qualification, or application within eighteen months of graduation
• Relevant modelling, arbovirus, data-analysis and statistical-software experience
• Expert knowledge of English
