Overview

Supports the UNCITRAL Regional Centre for Asia and the Pacific on international trade law work in the region. The internship assists supervised legal and programme activities linked to trade law norms, technical assistance, coordination and communication with states and partners.

Responsibilities

  • Support UNCITRAL RCAP work promoting international trade law norms and standards in Asia and the Pacific
  • Assist activities related to bilateral and multilateral technical assistance on UNCITRAL texts
  • Support workshops and seminars concerning adoption and interpretation of international trade law texts
  • Assist coordination with international and regional organizations active in trade law reform
  • Support communication between states in the region and UNCITRAL
  • Work under professional staff supervision on assigned legal affairs tasks

Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in or recently completed a graduate programme, or enrolled in or recently completed the final academic year of a first university degree programme
  • Must be computer literate in standard software applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and internet research
  • Must have demonstrated interest in the work of the United Nations and commitment to the ideals of the UN Charter
  • Must have demonstrated ability to interact successfully with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs
  • Excellent command of English is required
  • A field of study closely related to the internship is required

  • Expected duration is 2 to 6 months
