Responsibilities
- Conduct independent investigations of alleged human rights and humanitarian law violations involving children, victims and witnesses
- Advise inquiries and investigative bodies on child protection, child rights violations and gender-based violence
- Support investigative bodies, special procedures and extra-conventional mechanisms
- Prepare human rights reporting for intergovernmental bodies
- Integrate human rights and gender dimensions into UN and non-governmental programmes
- Coordinate with UN entities, international organisations and governments on child-rights policy matters
- Train civil, military and police actors on human rights, humanitarian law and rule of law
- Lead work coordination, administrative planning, budget functions and supervision of junior staff
Requirements
- Advanced university degree in law, political science, international relations, social sciences or a related field, or a first-level university degree with two additional years of qualifying work experience
- Minimum seven years of progressively responsible experience in human rights, political affairs, international relations, law or a related area
- Minimum three years of experience carrying out child rights investigations
- English is required
