Responsibilities

  • Conduct independent investigations of alleged human rights and humanitarian law violations involving children, victims and witnesses
  • Advise inquiries and investigative bodies on child protection, child rights violations and gender-based violence
  • Support investigative bodies, special procedures and extra-conventional mechanisms
  • Prepare human rights reporting for intergovernmental bodies
  • Integrate human rights and gender dimensions into UN and non-governmental programmes
  • Coordinate with UN entities, international organisations and governments on child-rights policy matters
  • Train civil, military and police actors on human rights, humanitarian law and rule of law
  • Lead work coordination, administrative planning, budget functions and supervision of junior staff

Requirements

  • Advanced university degree in law, political science, international relations, social sciences or a related field, or a first-level university degree with two additional years of qualifying work experience
  • Minimum seven years of progressively responsible experience in human rights, political affairs, international relations, law or a related area
  • Minimum three years of experience carrying out child rights investigations
  • English is required
