Overview

Assess Mozambique's legal, policy and institutional readiness for responsible investment in critical energy-transition minerals by analysing regulatory gaps, consulting national and local stakeholders, facilitating validation workshops, and producing reform and policy-package recommendations.

Responsibilities

  • Assess gaps in Mozambique's mineral-investment policy and legal frameworks
  • Combine field interviews with independent desk research
  • Develop reforms for environmental and institutional investment readiness
  • Facilitate national and local stakeholder consultations and validation workshops
  • Integrate consultation findings into final recommendations
  • Prepare the country-readiness and policy-package enhancement reports
  • Coordinate progress with UNEP, UNECA and project stakeholders

Requirements

  • Advanced degree in a relevant mining, environmental, legal, policy, governance or sustainable-development field, or a first degree plus two additional years of qualifying experience
  • At least five years of relevant experience in mining, environmental management, environmental or mining policy, regulatory frameworks or natural-resource governance
  • Experience analysing environmental or social aspects of mining in Africa
  • Fluent written and spoken Portuguese
  • Good working knowledge of English
