Job Description

The Construction Officer supports UNICEF Colombia’s construction portfolio by planning works, preparing technical documentation and procurement inputs, and monitoring field implementation. The role works with programme and operations teams to deliver quality, timely construction interventions that meet children’s needs.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Prepare the annual construction workplan
  • Coordinate construction interventions with UNICEF programme and operations teams and government counterparts
  • Prepare designs and technical documentation
  • Support procurement processes
  • Monitor construction projects in the field

Role Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in civil engineering, construction engineering or a related field
  • At least one year of relevant experience in project monitoring, construction supervision, quality assurance or related technical work
  • Experience in water, sanitation and hygiene projects in community, school or institutional settings
  • Fluency in Spanish
  • Ability to supervise construction works against project requirements, technical specifications and quality standards
  • Ability to review construction drawings, designs, technical specifications and related documentation

Desired Criteria

  • Infrastructure experience in development or humanitarian sectors
  • Experience with infrastructure works in emergency contexts
  • Specialisation in construction project management, water and sanitation, works management or infrastructure risk management
  • Country-level experience in development, fragile or humanitarian contexts
