Responsibilities
- Plan, organise, manage, supervise and coordinate mission medical services and support activities
- Lead clinical and administrative staff in the UN Clinic and Medical Section
- Oversee recruitment, onboarding, performance management and professional development for medical personnel
- Manage annual planning, budget preparation, financial control and medical supplies procurement coordination
- Implement training programmes, UN healthcare facility standards and healthcare quality and patient safety requirements
- Deliver and oversee clinical services, emergency response, medical examinations, immunisations and external referrals
- Maintain health support plans, emergency response plans, mass casualty capability and business continuity plans
- Advise senior management and represent the medical service on workplace healthcare matters
Requirements
- First-level university degree qualifying for registration as a licensed medical practitioner and current unrestricted registration with the medical licensing authority of a UN Member State
- Current registration to practise medicine in own country or another UN Member State
- Valid licence and registration to practise medicine
- At least ten years of progressively responsible clinical experience
- At least five years of combined clinical and management experience in one area of medicine
- English and French are required

- Recruit from roster opening for applicants already placed on pre-approved rosters with similar functions at the same level
- Opening is subject to UNSOH 2026-2027 budget approval and position availability from 1 July 2026 to 30 June 2027
- Appointment or assignment renewal is subject to post, funding, budget and mandate availability
- Staff members appointed to the position must submit a financial disclosure statement on assignment and annually thereafter
- Professional and higher category applicants for mission posts cannot be nationals of the duty-station country
