Chief of Section, Investigations

Qualifies candidates for a United Nations P-5 investigations roster covering duty stations worldwide. The chief leads misconduct, fraud, corruption and abuse investigations, directs teams and evidence collection, assures the legal sufficiency of reports, advises on policy and referrals, manages case intake and develops staff.

Department: Office of Internal Oversight Services, Investigations Division

• Lead serious and complex misconduct and fraud investigations
• Supervise investigative teams, resources and case timetables
• Set investigative strategy, methods and priorities
• Conduct interviews and analyse documentary and electronic evidence
• Review investigation reports, findings and recommendations
• Prepare cases for internal justice or national referral
• Oversee intake, jurisdictional assessment and evidence handling
• Develop investigation policies, procedures and guidance
• Manage section operations and investigative data
• Mentor and evaluate investigative staff

• Advanced university degree in law or investigations, or first degree with additional qualifying experience
• At least ten years of progressively responsible investigative work
• Substantial experience leading teams and complex sensitive investigations
• Experience managing multiple investigations simultaneously
• International or cross-jurisdictional investigation experience
• Experience in a complex international or multilateral environment

• This opening creates a P-5 roster rather than filling one immediate duty station
