Responsibilities

  • Advise on and support elaboration of the Executive Director's strategic priorities and coordinate special corporate initiatives
  • Provide policy and advisory services to the Executive Director and Chief of Staff on management and corporate strategic issues
  • Prepare policy proposals, statements, and position papers for the Executive Director, ELT, or Executive Board
  • Lead advocacy, representation, and networking with Member States, UN agencies, NGOs, and civil society to advance UN Women's agenda
  • Maintain and strengthen partnerships with key stakeholders supporting the Executive Director's priorities
  • Oversee administrative and communication functions for the Executive Director's Office, including correspondence and speech drafting
  • Manage a team of four direct reports (2 P staff and 2 GS staff) and affiliate personnel

Requirements

  • Master's degree or equivalent in gender, social sciences, public administration, business administration or related field; a first-level university degree with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu
  • A minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible professional experience in international development, preferably in gender equality and women's rights
  • Experience in policy and programmatic work in gender equality
  • Experience in gender and advisory positions
  • Experience managing complex units and situations
  • Fluency in English required
