Responsibilities

  • Represent the United Nations at senior levels with government, civil society and partners
  • Lead the UN Country Team in developing, monitoring and reporting on the UN Cooperation Framework
  • Coordinate UN system support to government and mitigate risks to SDG achievement
  • Forge strategic partnerships with national and sub-national stakeholders around the 2030 Agenda
  • Provide governance and oversight of system-wide country financing instruments
  • Coordinate country-level security when appointed as Designated Official
  • Manage matrixed reporting with UN country team heads on collective results
  • Guide and oversee the Resident Coordinator Office

Requirements

  • Master's degree or equivalent postgraduate qualification in development studies, international relations, political science, economics, social sciences, human rights, law or a closely related field, or a first-level university degree with a relevant combination of qualifications and experience
  • Over 15 years of substantive experience and results in international leadership roles
  • Five years of cumulative country-level experience outside the candidate's own country in development, human rights, rule of law, peacebuilding or humanitarian work
  • Previous Resident Coordinator experience, or senior-level inter-agency coordination experience in lieu
  • English and French at the required UN Level III proficiency
  • Eligibility is limited to candidates who are members of the Resident Coordinator Pool
