Operate MONUSCO's Communication Centre in Kinshasa by transmitting and receiving cable and fax traffic, logging and archiving correspondence, resolving communications delays, maintaining equipment and call records, supporting emergency switchboard operations, protecting confidential traffic and training colleagues.

Responsibilities

  • Transmit and receive outgoing and incoming cable and fax traffic
  • Log and archive all Communication Centre correspondence
  • Process communications promptly and resolve transmission difficulties
  • Keep communications equipment operational and report faults
  • Maintain telephone and facsimile call records
  • Support emergency telephone-switchboard operations
  • Protect the secrecy and confidentiality of correspondence
  • Coach and train national staff and counterparts when applicable

Requirements

  • At least five years of experience working with computers
  • Proficiency with Windows applications, particularly Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Valid driving licence
  • Written and spoken English fluency
  • Computer literacy and ability to adopt new procedures
