Overview

Provides technical support for hearing and ear care services under an assistive technology project for school-aged children in the Federated States of Micronesia. The consultancy focuses on rapid workforce upskilling, mentoring and safe rollout of screening, diagnosis and assistive product provision.

Responsibilities

  • Provide intensive capacity building for health personnel as hearing and ear care services are established
  • Deliver hands-on mentoring and coaching during initial service delivery
  • Support rollout of screening, diagnosis and assistive product provision for school-aged children
  • Advise on service delivery models and referral pathways tailored to FSM's context
  • Support workforce development and system strengthening with national, state-level and regional technical partners
  • Contribute technical expertise on hearing assessment, service provision, hearing aid fitting and onward management
  • Develop or adapt learning materials for capacity development

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in otolaryngology, audiology, ear and hearing care or a related clinical field
  • At least 3 years of relevant work experience with a bachelor's degree, or 2 years with a master's degree in otolaryngology, of demonstrated clinical experience in hearing and ear care service delivery
  • Demonstrated experience in an advisory role on policy, programme or capacity development to governments or multilateral organizations
  • Demonstrated experience in capacity development, including development of learning material
  • Demonstrated capability in adult education and training
  • Highly developed written and oral communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a culturally diverse environment with strong cross-cultural communication skills
