Responsibilities
- Develop and lead the country office communication strategy and workplan
- Manage media relations across print, television, radio, web and other channels
- Build networks with partners, groups and forums that support communication objectives
- Manage celebrity relations and special events that support country programme goals
- Integrate UNICEF global communication priorities and campaigns into local action
- Support country and global fundraising through advocacy and communication activities
- Manage communication team human and financial resources
- Evaluate communication results and provide professional advice to the representative and programme team
Requirements
- Advanced university degree in communications, journalism, public relations or a related field
- Internal UNICEF fixed-term, continuing or permanent staff may substitute a relevant first-level university degree plus two additional years of relevant experience
- At least ten years of progressively responsible relevant professional work experience
- International and national work experience in developed and developing countries
- Professional experience in communication, print, broadcast or new media
- Background or familiarity with emergency situations
- Fluency in English and French
