Biodiversity Investment Facility (BIF) Analyst

This UN Volunteer assignment supports UNDP BIOFIN and the Development Bank of Southern Africa in designing and operationalising the Biodiversity Investment Facility. The role contributes technical, financial and programme management support for facility structuring, project pipelines, fundraising and implementation reporting.

Department: Biodiversity Finance Initiative

• Refine the Biodiversity Investment Facility structure and financial instruments
• Develop investment criteria and governance frameworks
• Identify and develop a pipeline of biodiversity projects
• Support feasibility analysis and financial modelling
• Prepare funding proposals and investor materials
• Engage donors and development partners including GEF and bilateral donors
• Track implementation progress, KPIs and reporting to BIOFIN

• Specialization in sustainable finance, development finance, environmental finance, economics, environmental management or a similar field
• Experience in climate, nature and biodiversity finance
• Experience in resource mobilization
• Experience with programme, knowledge and implementation management
• Experience with project pipeline development and project preparation
• Experience working with international and national institutions or development finance institutions
• Computer literacy including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
• Candidates with five years of experience in the above areas will also be considered

• Monthly Volunteer Living Allowance is R33,348.22
• Entry lump sum is USD 350 at the start of the assignment
