Responsibilities

  • Appraise records and remove extraneous, transitory and irrelevant documentation
  • Arrange and describe records according to international archival standards and internal processes
  • Assess record condition and identify material requiring digitisation, preservation or conservation
  • Add metadata to online catalogue records in line with international standards and internal guidance
  • Review catalogue metadata and descriptions for accuracy and consistency
  • Coordinate backlog processing with the Archives Team Lead and archives colleagues

Requirements

  • Advanced degree in archives management, records management, document management, library and information sciences or a related field, or a bachelor's degree in a related field with at least 6 years of professional experience
  • At least 4 years of experience processing archival collections
  • Experience applying international archival and records-management standards and electronic-records principles within archival systems
  • Ability to lift boxes and files weighing up to 40 pounds
  • Current residence in the Washington, DC metropolitan area
