Overview
UNICEF seeks a national UN Volunteer to coordinate adolescent development, participation and civic engagement work in Malaysia. The role supports youth platforms, capacity building, knowledge management and documentation for programmes with and for children and young people.

Responsibilities
- Coordinate initiatives that strengthen young people's participation, civic engagement and advocacy, including YPAG, World Children's Day and child rights platforms
- Engage UNICEF programme sections to identify safe, inclusive and meaningful opportunities for young people to contribute to programme initiatives and advocacy
- Liaise with youth networks, children and youth councils, civil society organisations, human rights bodies and partners to support coordinated engagement
- Coordinate consultations, participatory group discussions, roundtables and panel discussions with safe, ethical and inclusive participation
- Support the planning, design and delivery of skills-building workshops and interactive sessions for young people, partners and UNICEF colleagues
- Contribute to capacity-building activities on meaningful participation principles, safeguarding and practical approaches for engaging young people safely
- Support monitoring, drafting and consolidation of programme results for reporting, learning and knowledge-sharing
- Document and amplify young people-led impact through stories, multimedia assets, dissemination plans and communication channels
- Maintain data management tools and tracking systems for outreach, engagement and participation
- Contribute to a resource repository of guidance, tools and materials on adolescent development, safeguarding and meaningful participation
- Monitor and curate current affairs, evidence, statistics and data on young people for programme planning, advocacy and reporting
- Provide coordination, administrative and programme support for ADAP and country programme delivery
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in political or social science, international development, human rights, social anthropology or a related field
- At least 3 years of work experience at national or international level implementing development programmes at community, national or international level
- Excellent oral and written skills, including drafting, formulation and reporting
- Experience developing youth-friendly visual, written or multimedia assets
- Accuracy and professionalism in programme management and reporting
- Ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with partners including community members, religious and youth organisations and authorities
- Ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national staff
- Solid computer literacy, including Microsoft Office applications, email, internet, database management and office technology
- Ability to work with minimal oversight and tight deadlines
- Sound security awareness
- Interest in children and youth development and participation, volunteerism and the UN system
