Overview
Conducts scientific analysis for IMEO methane measurement campaigns and sectoral emissions work. The fellowship produces manuscripts, campaign designs, validated datasets and technical reports to support methane mitigation and evidence-based climate action.

Responsibilities
- Collect and analyze field measurement data from fossil-fuel-related methane emission sources
- Support IMEO science studies and measurement campaign design
- Prepare peer-reviewed manuscripts on methane quantification and sectoral analysis
- Produce analytical reports, comprehensive data summaries and validated datasets from measurement campaigns
- Develop study proposals, technical designs and presentation materials
- Review scientific proposals for funding and contribute to IMEO methane science direction
- Report progress to stakeholders and the Science Studies Programme Management Officer
Requirements
- Doctorate or equivalent in atmospheric science, geology or a related field
- Minimum three years of experience in atmospheric methane and emission data sector
- Experience performing rigorous analysis with short deadlines, programming language expertise such as R or Python for large datasets, strong qualitative analysis proficiency and knowledge of atmospheric sampling in a field environment
- Proven ability to write papers for reputable peer-reviewed scientific journals
- Knowledge of the Oil and Gas sector related to methane emissions sources
- English is the working language of UNEP IMEO
