Responsibilities

  • Prepare a detailed workplan specifying key outputs and timelines in consultation with UNSD
  • Review existing materials and tools on AI readiness for official statistics to develop workshop content for African LDCs
  • Synthesise regional and national AI strategies and relevant statistical frameworks, strategies and laws
  • Engage with partners and stakeholders to gather inputs for workshop materials
  • Interview selected countries to understand gaps, challenges and national experiences
  • Organise and facilitate the regional workshop on AI readiness for official statistics
  • Document lessons learned and prepare the post-workshop report

Requirements

  • Advanced university degree (Master's or equivalent) in statistics, economics, data science, development studies or related field, or a Bachelor's degree with nine years of qualifying experience
  • Minimum seven years of progressively responsible experience in social sciences, including statistics, economics, digital transformation or data science
  • Minimum three years of experience working with national statistical systems, particularly in developing countries
  • Demonstrated experience in data governance, data management and data quality frameworks
  • Solid knowledge of statistical production, including non-traditional data sources and metadata development
  • Experience designing or supporting capacity-development initiatives such as training and workshops
  • Full command of spoken and written English required
